I took my doll Lucy out to test my new camera, I only got a few pictures before the batteries ran out and they all got really grainy, I need to figure how the settings and menus work.

Beside the grainy quality of the photo, I am quite happy about the composition and the fact that I managed to balance the doll on the stone even with the sea-breeze present.

That's such a nice setting for the pic! I can hardly believe that you managed to balance and pose the doll without any support!

It wasn't easy, but patience is a virtue and all that ;)

The background is lovely for this, and really looks awesome with the doll. The composition isn't as nice as the other one, but it is pretty awesome!

Thanks, I tried to focus as much on the surroundings as on the doll, so I tried to get the composition of the background right, landscape photography might not be my strength

You can still do that, if you can have the doll on a focus point on the rule of thirds, the composition would still be really cool.

The background looks amazing though and you have captured that well I think. It may not be your strength and it can still be hard for me too! Just keep trying though. The background itself does follow a cool photography trick of starting your eyes at the front and leading them to the top corner which opens out to the sea. The background itself looks so good that without the doll the composition would be really strong for a background because it leads your eyes from the front and towards the back.

Here are some examples where you can show a lot of the background but still have good composition:

I know it can be hard to sort things out when you are out and about with a doll because not everything can be set up perfectly. But having Lucy in a different place so the doll would be either on where the lines cross on the grid line or on a vertical line would make it a very strong photo!

Thanks for the help, I would like to think that I would have gotten a lot of better pictures if the batteries hadn't run out on me.

Very-very beatiful. It's a pity that quality of photo is poor :(
I think your doll looks similar with Lendsey Stirling ;)

I suppose it wouldn't be very out of character for Miss Sterling to dance and play on an ice covered ocean, I will consider being compared to her in any regard as a very high compliment ;)
